Great Whitening

FAQ

Here are some of our most frequently asked questions

What's actually in the strips? The active ingredient is hydrogen peroxide, the same whitening agent used in professional dental treatments. It works by penetrating enamel and breaking down stain molecules from the inside out. The remaining ingredients are inactive, the adhesive, film, and gel base that hold the strip together. What makes Great Whitening different? Most whitening strip brands don't tell you how much hydrogen peroxide is in their product. You're buying blind. Great Whitening was built around the opposite idea, one active ingredient, a concentration we're upfront about, and directions that actually make sense.

Why are you so upfront about the concentration? Because most brands aren't. When you don't know the concentration of what you're using, you can't use it correctly. Too strong and you over-sensitize. Too weak and you wonder why it's not working. We put it on the box because you deserve to know what you bought.

Why does the packaging say "up to 6% hydrogen peroxide"? Hydrogen peroxide naturally breaks down into water and oxygen over time. The strips are filled at up to 6% at manufacturing, but the concentration decreases slightly as the product ages. The "up to" language reflects that honestly.

Is hydrogen peroxide safe for my teeth? Yes. Decades of clinical research show that hydrogen peroxide at these concentrations does not damage enamel or dentin. Temporary sensitivity is the most common side effect and is not a sign of harm, it typically resolves within hours to a couple of days.

How do Great Whitening strips compare to professional whitening? Both use hydrogen peroxide to break down stains. Professional treatments use higher concentrations, which is faster but more expensive and more likely to cause sensitivity. At-home whitening gets you to the same place, just more gradually and for a lot less money.

How long until I see results? Whitening is cumulative, not instant. Most people notice a difference within the first few uses, with full results building over a complete treatment. Consistency matters more than intensity.

Are these safe if I have sensitive teeth? Yes, with adjustments. Start with 20 to 30 minute sessions and increase as tolerated. If sensitivity flares up, take a few days off and use a sensitivity toothpaste like Sensodyne in the meantime.

Do strips work on crowns, veneers, or fillings? No. Whitening strips only affect natural tooth enamel. Restorations won't change color, so results may appear uneven if you have significant dental work in your smile zone.

How long do the strips last? How should I store them? Unopened strips are shelf-stable for up to 24 months, check the expiration on the box. Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat. Once opened, use the strip right away.

Who shouldn't use Great Whitening strips? Do not use if you are pregnant or nursing, have existing gum conditions, or have known sensitivities to any ingredients. Avoid use within two weeks of a dental procedure or while wearing braces. Keep out of reach of children. Stop use and consult a dental professional if discomfort or excessive sensitivity occurs.
